Listening to the Silence pencil, drafting film, wood panel   15 x 30 x 3 cm    2017

The series is based at the surface on pencil drawings of seaweed washed up at the shore.  The seaweed follows the trace of the wave - a mark of the force of nature. It symbolises also the fate of a human life - where it comes from, how it is moved by forces beyond its control and where ends. The line drawing of the seaweed was sketched on the beach and I have laid it over the natural grain of the wood base, which represents the moving water.
